Education Visits

The Octagon House Museum offers field trips and in-classroom programming for elementary students in Hudson area schools and homeschool groups. Our programming is curriculum-based and always interactive. Explore our offerings below!

Friendly Circle

InterpreTeam

InterpreTeam is the Octagon House Museum’s in-classroom program that brings researched lessons to 3rd-5th grade students throughout the Hudson area. These lessons are:

  • Interactive

  • Utilize primary sources

  • Curriculum-aligned

  • Led by museum guides trained to interpret the past for audiences today!​

 

Details: 

  • InterpreTeam visits are available from mid-March to the end of April, on Wednesdays-Fridays per staff availability. 

  • InterpreTeam visits are suited for single classrooms (up to 30 students), and multiple classroom visits may be scheduled in one day.

Field Trips

The historic Octagon House Museum is alive with history! Field trips to the museum include a tour of the 1855 home led by costumed Interpreters, short history activity stations, and time for a picnic lunch onsite! â€‹

Details: 

  • Field trips to the Museum site can be scheduled in late April, and May on Wednesdays-Fridays, per staff availability.

  • Field trips to the Museum can only accommodate up to 35 students at a time

  • A ratio of 1 adult for every 10 youth is required for field trips. ​
